Secure your career by enlisting into the Royal Australian Navy as a full time Ship Mechanic Apprentice (Marine Technician) gaining a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade.

This career path is also available for those interested in working aboard the Navy’s ‘Collins class’ submarines.

Salary

•  You will start on $37,800* per annum.
• After 11 weeks recruit training, your salary will rise to $42,100* per annum.
•  On completion of theory training, it will increase to $53,700* per annum. 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• The operation and maintenance of various machinery and associated systems throughout the ship.
•   Operating, monitoring and maintaining equipment.
• Conduct periodic and routine planned maintenance.

Essential Requirements

• Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (who has applied for Australian Citizenship and can provide proof).
•  Must have an Australian Year 10 School Certificate (or Australian recognised equivalent) with passes in Science, English, Maths (non modified) and at least one other subject.
• Must be aged between 17 and 53 years inclusive on the date of enlistment.
• Must be medically and physically fit.
